Barbara Krasner | History Writer

I've been writing for children since 2000. More than 80 of my articles have appeared in magazines including Appleseeds, Babaganewz, Calliope, Cobblestone, Footsteps, and Odyssey. I've been writing for the adult market since 1997 and I'm the author of several books, including Discovering Your Jewish Ancestors, and more than 100 articles for magazines including History Magazine, History Channel Magazine, Ancestry, Avotaynu: The International Review of Jewish Genealogy, B'nai B'rith International Jewish Monthly, Family Chronicle, Family Tree Magazine, Forward, Genealogical Computing, and Russian Life.
My particular focus is Jewish history.
I hold an MFA in Writing for Children & Young Adults from Vermont College of Fine Arts and an MBA in Marketing from Rutgers University. I am a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Douglass College, where I earned a BA in German.
That knowledge of German came in very handy while working on this book about the St. Louis. I was able to use materials that perhaps other writers could not without having translations available.
